EEE Undergraduate Curriculum Reform Continues
06/01/2007
The EEE undergraduate curriculum has been reformed substantially over the past few years, with the objective of providing a forward-thinking and progressive environmental engineering curriculum for the 21st century. Improvements include:
- Replacement or update of nearly 50% of junior-year core courses
- Introduction of sequential, problem-oriented introductory courses during the 1st and 2nd year
- More choices among basic and applied science requirements to meet students’ specific interests
- Designation of three concentration areas beginning in 2006-2007, to guide students in making elective choices based on their interests within environmental engineering
- Introduction of laboratory and computer exercises into lecture classes
- Development of new, problem-oriented elective courses, emphasizing real-world project work in a studio-based learning environment
Still more improvements to the core curriculum are planned, including the senior design project.
